Church Staff

Rev. Stephen L. Bowie
Pastor
Being from the Pacific Northwest, Pastor Steve can grill a salmon and tell the difference between a hemlock and a fir tree. He has a passion for creating environments where people can extend their discipleship to Jesus Christ in directions they’ve not yet explored. He believes our goal as brothers and sisters in Christ is often “to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.” Music is essential in all he presents in worship.
Rev. Greg Albert
Parish Associate
Rev. Greg Albert is a retired Presbyterian minister. He moved to Rockford in September 2017 with his wife Robbin, after nearly 30 years in the ministry. Those years included works as a prison chaplain, Presbytery executive and pastor. One of his churches was in Savanna, Illinois. As Parish Associate (a volunteer position), Greg helps with worship and fills in for the Pastor when he is unavailable. Most Sundays you will find him playing the harmonica or banjo.
Laura Fowler
Program Coordinator

Laura Fowler is our current Program Coordinator/Church Administrator. She has been involved in many churches for over 33 years and enjoyed activities such as coordinating Sunday school and Vacation Bible school. Additionally, she was a founding member of the Bread of Life food pantry and held the position of Kitchen and Volunteer Coordinator. Laura is thankful for her position where she can use her previous work experience, faith in Jesus, and desire to help and serve others.

Laura Cooper

Laura is the newest addition to the staff.  She has lived in Rockford, IL for 44 years.  She and her husband have been married for 40 years and they have 3 children and 7 grandchildren.  She is a member of Christ United Methodist Church.  Previously she has worked in banking and the travel industry.  She enjoys spending time with family, hiking, golfing and scuba diving.
Tom Jacoby
Choir Director

Tom’s musical journey started at the age of 9 when his parents presented him with a trumpet. He began playing in the school band and in the Zion’s View Community Band. In his teen years Tom was drawn to playing the guitar and singing, which became his musical passion. He studied at York College of Pennsylvania and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in musical performance summa cum laude. He directed the York Chorus, several church choirs, a community band and formed a musical performing group called “Main Street.”   Tom attended the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, PA., where he earned a Master of Divinity degree, leading to ordination as a Pastor in the Lutheran Church. Throughout his career in the church Tom used his musical gifts in his pastoral work. After his retirement from full-time pastoring, he felt called to continue his involvement with church music and became the Music Director here at Third Pres. where he is also active in the worship music ensemble.
